Our Lamps History

The gourds are dried in the shade until the next April. Carefully dried gourds begin to be processed in the skillful hands of the master. One of the most difficult processes to clean the exterior. The surface of the gourd, which have been soaked in water for a while, is rubbed with a hard dish wash.
After the cleaning, the lower section must be opened in the workshop. A symmetrical circle is drawn and pierced at the bottom and the inside of the gourd is cleaned.
During the drilling process in which many kinds of patterns are applied, the master’s full attention is focused on the pattern. Starfish, fish, flowers, geometric motifs… The only limit is the master’s imagination. After dozens of holes drilled in its body, beads of color take their turn. The pattern is decorated with beads with the help of a plastic tipped hammer.
At the end of the day, the story of gourd that begins in the soil illuminates the night in the form of a work of art that light raises.
